Purpose

Right now, my favourite quote is this:

“The beginning of purpose is found in creating something that only you understand”

-Tyler Joseph

I love this quote, and not just because Tyler Joseph said it, but that might be a fraction of it.

Tyler Joseph has a song called “Kitchen Sink”, where he explains that “A kitchen sink to you is not a kitchen sink to me”. He doesn’t tell people what a kitchen sink means to him, because what keeps him motivated to live is knowing that he is the only person on earth who is capable of telling someone what it means. He has the same philosophy for the logo of his band.

Humans struggle. Personally, I struggle with trying to decipher the point of life in this chaos. I go to school every day and complete little pointless routines and write essays for no real reason other than to make it to the next life obstacle. We all do. But, what is the point? To be prepared for college? What’s the point of that? To get a job? What about that? It’s an endless and tiring unanswerable cycle.

Finding something on the earth that only you understand can create a small “point” to life, at least for me. Right now, I’ve been writing a lot of poetry for my Magnum Opus, and I am comfortable knowing that I will always be the only person who knows exactly what my poems mean.

This whole spiel might not make sense to anyone, and I might not have the right vocabulary to explain myself, but I do understand what I’m trying to say.

Sometimes, the complexity of a thought doesn’t deserve to be limited to the boundaries of language.
