twenty one pilots

Months turned to days
As she waited to say
The fools’ day she would no longer dread
Cross-legged and serene
Live videos on-screen
To prepare for the chaos ahead
The day slowly came
Thoughts of concerts plagued her brain
She had never attended one before
Scared out of her mind
She hid behind time
Remaining days now amounted to four
Today was the day
She agreed to stay away
From the school she knew would exhaust her
She prepared what she would need
“I think I’m ready,” she decreed
But she checked once or thrice to confirm
It wasn’t a pity
To drive to the city
But she sat restlessly in the passenger seat
Brain foggy and clogged
With visions of mobs
And crowds of tromping feet
She stood in line
Too nervous to dine
On the poutine and pizza she could buy
Temperatures were cold
The organizer lady was bold
With her thunderous authority cry
She found her seat
And sat back in defeat
From every nerve that attacked her
She looked around the room
But didn’t feel doomed
She wouldn’t let anxiety deter her
The opening act
Wasn’t, in fact
The best band in the scene
She turned to her dad
And laughed just a tad
They didn’t want to be mean
The real band took the stage
They were all the rage
And her worries had been jailed for their crimes
She sat back in awe
At the band she had saw
In countless videos online
Energy and passion
Flashing colours and action
Lyrics the audience screamed
She suspended all cares and
Avoided all glares
While she lived her awaited dream
“They were real,” she said
When she returned to her bed
After explaining the night to her brother
The concert was amazing, sure
She’ll return for their next tour
Even if she vowed to never attend another
